AEPA Special Education: Early Childhood Test
Every child, regardless of ability, deserves a thorough education. This is why, as you’ve likely experienced by now, the training curriculum for incoming special education is so rigorous. Special needs students tend to need a bit more help and guidance, so they need educators who are able to meet those needs properly and compassionately. Throughout your own training in this important field, you’ve likely picked up many of these skills. Now you will have to prove what you’ve learned by taking and earning a passing score on the AEPA (Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments).
The AEPA is designed to measure the competency of incoming Arizonian teachers with regards to the various skills they’ll need to perform their jobs effectively. It features several exams for each and every educational field available in the state. Early childhood special education teachers in particular will be administered the AEPA Special Education: Early Childhood exam.
As you may expect, the AEPA Special Education: Early Childhood test is fairly complex. You will be given approximately two and a half hours to solve 100 multiple choice questions. (This question format is also referred to as “selected-response.”) Each of these questions will relate to one of three relevant topics: Working in a Collaborative Learning Community (14 percent); Promoting Young Children’s Growth and Development (59 percent); and Understanding Young Children with Special Needs (27 percent).
