Native Americans: The Southwest
The Southwest area is defined as the area that covers Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah. The seminomadic Basketmakers lived in this area, and survived through hunting with their weapon known as the atlatl which would allow them to hurl a spear accurately over a great distance. The tribes in this area mainly lived in dwellings that were partially underground, known as pit dwellings. They would also grow corn, beans, squash, cotton, and tobacco. They were able to kill rabbits in their area, but had to trade textiles and pottery for buffalo meat. The tribes in this area had a polytheistic religion, complete with ritualistic and prayer items.
