NYSTCE Gifted Education Practice Test
Once you’ve graduated from college, you may opt to become certified to teach Gifted Studies in the state of New York. The New York State Board of Education will require you to take the NYSTCE Gifted Education Exam, which is one of the exams in the New York State Teacher Certification Examination (NYSTCE) series.
You will need to register to take this test, and it will be administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). You must achieve a score of 520 on this test to get your certification in Gifted Studies, so it’s a good idea to put together a solid plan for studying in the weeks before the test.
The NYSTCE Gifted Education Study Guide was put together by Mometrix to be used along with your college text books and other information, which will help you pass your test with confidence on your scheduled testing day. The NYSTCE Gifted Education Practice Test can also be a helpful tool to help you assess your level of readiness for the test.
The total testing time is 3 hours and 15 minutes. Your test will list 90 selected-response questions which will test your skills and knowledge over 6 subareas. To set a standard pace, you’ll want to allow about 60 minutes to answer this portion of the test. Use the remaining 135 minutes to answer the constructed-response question which covers Analysis, Synthesis, and Application of the total areas.
The selected-response questions will cover Foundations of Gifted Education and Professional Practice; Development and Characteristics of Students Who Are Gifted and Talented; Assessment Evaluation, and Differentiated Education Plans; Learning Environments, Social Interactions, and Communication; Planning and Instruction; and Gifted Services and Collaboration.
This is a computer-based test, and you will have the chance to take a computer-based testing tutorial to familiarize yourself with the format of the test. On the day of your exam, be sure to take time to read through the questions carefully and select the best answers. You should also be prepared to show an acceptable source of identification on the day of the exam, prior to entering the testing area.
