NYSTCE American Sign Language Practice Test
The New York State Board of Education designed a series of tests for prospective teachers in New York to become certified to teach in the state. The New York State Teacher Certification Exams (NYSTCE) are designed to prove that teachers have mastered the subject knowledge to teach classes in their field. All certification tests are administered by the Educational Testing System (ETS). Teachers who want to become certified in American Sign Language will need to take the NYSTCE American Sign Language Exam, which consists of 50 selected-response questions and 3 constructed-response questions. This is a computer-based test that gives you 3 hours and 25 minutes to take your test.
The computer program offers a pre-test tutorial to demonstrate the computer-based features of the test. Bear in mind that you will need a score of 520 to pass your test and become certified in American Sign Language. Some of your answers will be videotaped, so it’s important to dress so that the tape will clearly record your answers. Wear solid colored clothing that contrasts with your skin tone, which will provide a good background for your signing. Avoid wearing prints, stripes, and graphics which may be a distraction from your signing. Be sure to review the testing window and scheduling deadlines so that you can get certified without delay.
Mometrix has worked diligently to prepare your NYSTCE American Sign Language Practice Test and NYSTCE American Sign Language Study Guide to adequately prepare you for your test. The domains of Expressive Production and Pedagogical Content Knowledge will consist of constructed-response questions.
