The NMTA Elementary Education Test is an assessment designed to ensure that potential educators in New Mexico elementary schools have the necessary knowledge and skills for the vocation. Success on the exam provides the candidate with state licensure to teach Elementary students in public schools. The exam itself contains 100 selected-response questions, and includes 5 subareas which are (I) Reading Instruction and Language Arts, (II) Literature and the Arts, (III) Mathematics, (IV) Science, and (V) Social Studies.
