Real Estate Sales Exam
This exam is required for all who are seeking to become a licensed Real Estate sales professional in the state of Texas. The passing of this exam means that you have met all knowledge, skills, and experience qualifications of a high-quality salesperson for Real Estate. Licensure proves that you have met a standard of excellence that will serve you and clients for years to come.
When and Where Can I Take It?
You must schedule your exam online through Pearson VUE. You will need your eligibility letter to do this as well. Exams can be scheduled year-round on the date and time of your choosing.
Pearson VUE has testing locations throughout the state of Texas, as well as nationwide. A full list of available dates, times, and locations will be provided during your scheduling.
It is important to note that you must schedule and pass the exam within a year from your eligibility letter confirmation. Not doing so will mean that you need to reapply and register, forfeiting all previously paid fees.
What Should I Bring?
You will need to bring at least two forms of personal identification with you to the testing center. Both must contain your signature and name matching your application information. One of them must also include a recognizable photo.
You should plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled exam to check into the testing center. Those who arrive late will not be allowed to test and will have to reschedule and forfeit any fees paid.
The exam is taken via a computer. This means that you will not need to bring any personal belongings with you to take the exam. This includes any electronic devices, pencils, or scratch paper. You may use a hand-held, battery or solar-powered financial calculator that do not contain alpha characters.
All personal items are not allowed in the testing area and will be kept in a designated locker until you have completed the exam.
What Is Covered?
The Texas Real Estate Sales exam consists of two portions: National and State. The national portion has 85 multiple choice questions and is given 150 minutes to complete. The state portion has 40 questions and is given 90 minutes to finish.

How Is It Scored?
You will receive an unofficial score report at the completion of your exam. This will indicate your pass/fail status and a breakdown of your performance for each section of the exam. If you have passed, a license document will be sent by email within 5-10 business days.
To pass this exam you will need to receive a raw of at least 56 on the national portion and at least 21 on the state portion. Raw scores are the number of questions answered correctly.

Who Can Take It?
All those who wish to take this exam must first complete all pre-licensing education required and file a real estate salesperson or broker application with the Texas Real Estate Commission (TREC). When your application has been approved, you will be sent an eligibility letter with information about how to register for the exam.
You must then schedule an appointment to get fingerprinted through MorphoTrust. You will need your eligibility letter to do this. Your fingerprints will be submitted for criminal history background checks. If these are passed you can then schedule your exam.
There is an exam fee of $54 to be paid during registration.
