Therapeutic Touch Assist
A discussion of assisting touch for various forms of therapy. Four types of touch were discussed: Maintained touch, palpation, knife-edge, move away/move towards. Maintained touch is using your hand to help someone hold a particular position. Palpation touch is using your hand to show which muscle is being worked. Knife edge touch is using the outer edge of your hand to demonstrate which muscle is contracting, and finally move away/move toward touch is using your hand to direct someone to move towards you or to move away from you (gently).
