STAAR stands for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness. It is a system of tests Texas public school students are required to take at the end of each school year. For grades 3 – 8, tests will cover reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. In high school, tests will be given at the end of courses in the following subjects: Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. history. High school students who don’t achieve satisfactory scores will not be given a diploma, regardless of their grade point average or attendance record. Our Mometrix Academy STAAR prep videos can help Texas students do well in school and get that all important diploma.
