NCLEX Review: Blood Transfusions

Blood transfusions are a life-saving treatment that a nurse must be able to administer safely, as well as manage adverse reactions with speed and confidence. For the NCLEX exam, you will need to know what components you will be administering, including: whole blood, packed red blood cells (RBCs), platelets, granulocytes, fresh frozen plasma (FFP), and cryoprecipitate (cryo). It is also important to know how blood is grouped in the ABO system, safe practice before beginning a transfusion and how to administer a blood transfusion. We will cover all of these topics in this NCLEX review video.
