FTCE Elementary Education K-6 Practice Test
The Florida Teacher Certification Exam (FTCE) is a series of content and application-based exams for the state of Florida that provides prospective educators the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in general education and subject area knowledge.
The Elementary K-6 exam is one of seven exams developed by the state of Florida to reflect the requirements of the state, aligned with the student content standards approved by the Florida State Board.
The Elementary Education K-6 exam is a four and a half hour computer-based test (CBT) which consists of approximately 220 multiple choice questions. Your scheduled appointment time for the exam will be longer than the amount of testing time allowed. This accounts for checking in and observing a short tutorial before beginning and one 15-minute break. The multiple choice questions come from the following subtest areas:
- Language Arts (65 minutes): approximately 60 multiple choice questions
- Social Science (65 minutes): approximately 55 multiple choice questions
- Science (70 minutes): approximately 55 multiple choice questions
- Mathematics (70 minutes): approximately 50 multiple choice questions
Scoring and Results
The number of correct answers (raw score) is converted to a common measure or scale score. You must obtain a scale score of 200 per subtest and pass all subtests to pass the Elementary K-6 exam.
You will obtain an immediate pass/non-pass status at the conclusion of the exam. Score reports are released within four weeks of testing. You will receive a report via your account, and the results will be reported to the Department of Education’s Bureau of Educator Certification. However, only passing scores will be reported. Should you wish for your results to be provided to your district/college, you will have to request it when you initially register for the exam.
The cost of all subtests within the Elementary K-6 exam is $150.00. Payment is made via MasterCard or Visa, and your registration is good for one year. Should you not schedule and take the test within the year, your registration will expire, and you will not receive a refund.
You may retake all or any number of subtests. You will be provided a 15-minute break if you take more than three subtests. The cost for taking the subtests are:
