FTCE ESE K-12 Exam Registration

To register for the exam, you must create an FTCE/FELE account online. Then, you can log in and select “Exceptional Student Education” as your exam. From there, you can register for the exam, pay the $150 testing fee, and schedule your testing appointment.

Test Day

You must report to the testing center 30 minutes before your examination time. You will need to have two forms of valid, government-issued identification, one of which must be a photo ID. You will also have your photograph taken and your palm vein scanned.

You may be asked to remove your glasses for visual inspection, and you will be asked to place all personal items in the provided secure storage. You are allowed no personal items in the testing facility. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, purses, and wallets.

After your identification has been verified, you’ll be assigned to your station, and you’ll be provided with an erasable notepad and pen. You will be asked to read and sign the non-disclosure agreement before starting the exam.

Once you enter the testing center and take your seat, you are not allowed to talk to any other test taker. Should you have a question or need additional supplies, you must raise your hand for assistance. Failure to follow the test center rules could result in the cancellation of your test and your registration fee forfeited.

While the exam does not include a scheduled break, you may take a restroom break if necessary. Keep in mind that the time you take during your break comes out of the total test time.
