In Illinois, educators seeking state-licensure to teach music must take the ILTS Music Exam. This test measures the knowledge and skills required to teach music in the public school system. The test contains 5 categories of questions: Listening Skills, Music Theory, Creating and Performing Music, Music History and Culture, and Music Education. It consists of 125 multiple-choice questions and lasts 3 hours and 45 minutes. The exam fee is 122$.
