What’s On the Cognitive Ability Test?

Unlike many standardized tests of intelligence, the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability test only takes 12 minutes to complete and has 50 questions, which is far fewer questions than most IQ tests.

The questions on this test are about math, geometric figures, analogies, following directions, jumbled sentences, common sense, reasoning ability, vocabulary, and more. There are many versions of the exam, but they are all quite similar. Questions start off being fairly easy, but get harder as the test progresses.

What does a Wonderlic Cognitive Ability test measure?


The test measures a person’s learning and problem-solving skills. The test is often used with those who are entering college, entry level jobs, and in team-making efforts.

Are you allowed to use a calculator on the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability test?


You are not allowed to use a calculator on this test. The math questions on the test are designed to be solved without a calculator.


What is a good score on the Wonderlic Cognitive Ability test?


The exam is scored on a range of 0 to 50, with 50 being the highest score possible. Depending on what you are taking the test for, depends on what is considered a good score. If you are applying for a job as a chemist, you may be required to have a score of 31, while another field may have a required score of 21.
