Success of Cities – Why Do Some Cities Flourish More Than Others?

In this video, we have a discussion of why some cities succeed and flourish. One of the reasons a city succeeds is because it is placed in a good geographical location. Cities located as central hubs of trade and travel, defensibility, access to water or other natural resources tend to succeed. Geography plays a large role in the success of a city. Railroad, shipping, flight, or other travel hubs tend to flourish. Cities that are centers of industry also help them succeed and grow. Cities with good climates also help them flourish. Room and land for a city to expand helps it grow and succeed. Ease of immigration and relocation help a city to succeed. Where multiple factors listed above are present, the chance that a particular city will flourish and succeed increases.
