Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching: Grades 7–12 (5624) Practice Test
This Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching Exam is specifically designed to assess a new instructor’s ability to teach students in grades 7-12.
The computer-based exam is 2 hours long and consists of 70 selected-response questions and 4 constructed-response questions. The selected-response questions will be for the categories of students as learners, instructional process, assessment, and professional development, leadership, and community. The constructed-response questions are for the analysis of instructional scenarios category.
You are expected to allocate 70 minutes for the 70 selected-response questions. For the constructed-response section, you will have 50 minutes.
Some questions may not count toward your score.
Special testing accommodations are available for approved individuals. This request must be made in writing.
The available special accommodations include extended testing time, additional rest breaks, audio test, and oral interpreter.

Students as Learners: Student development and the learning process, students as diverse learners, and student motivation and the learning environment.
Instructional Process: Planning instruction, instructional strategies, questioning techniques, and communication techniques.
Assessment: Assessment and evaluation strategies and assessment tools.
Professional Development, Leadership, and Community: Professional development practices and resources, research, views, ideas, and debates on teaching practices, reflective practice for professional growth, school support personnel who assist students, teachers, and families, teachers and schools as educational leaders in the community, developing collaborative relationships, and implications of major legislation with regard to students and teachers.
Analysis of Instructional Scenarios: Related to two case histories on the topics of students as learners, instructional process, assessment, and professional development, leadership, and community.

What is the most convenient way to register for the exam?
Use a credit card, debit card, or PayPal to register online. Be sure to print your admission ticket, and take it with you to your exam.
Additional forms of payment that are acceptable, are money orders, eChecks (drawn on a US bank), and bank check (drawn on a US bank).
You also have the options of registering by mail and over the phone. If you register by phone, there is an additional $35 fee to use this option. In addition, payments can only be made via credit card or debit card.

What should I do the day of the exam?
Bring a valid photo ID that includes your name, signature, and photo AND your admission ticket.
Forms of acceptable ID include passport, passport card, driver’s license, national identification, and military identification.
A calculator will not be necessary or allowed for this exam. Personal items such as a cell phone, tablet, and watch are also prohibited.
What happens after I take the exam?
You will have online access to your official score report 2-3 weeks after the testing window closes.
What happens if I don’t pass the exam?
If you do not pass the test or you are not satisfied with your score, you can retake it once every 21 days. This 21-day period does not include the day you initially took the exam.
