NCLEX Review: Glucose Test

In this NCLEX video we will cover some of the precautions necessary when doing a glucose test. When you are drawing blood for glucose testing, it is important to go over some of these precautions so that you prevent further metabolization of the glucose by the red blood cells. This is important because if it is not done, it could skew the results. As an NCLEX exam refresher, we will cover these basic precautions in further detail: 1. separate cellular components from plasma or serum, 2. fasting, 3. rapid transfer to centrifuge and 4. fluoride.
