Write an essay where you tell us about what drives you in your pursuit of your graduate degree.

After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in sports management and a minor in marketing from Marietta College, I am now interested in pursuing a master’s degree in sport and hospitality management at the University of Memphis. I believe that this decision will benefit myself tremendously towards reaching a career as a facility director for college athletics. Nowadays, a bachelor's degree doesn't help separate yourself from other potential job applicants. As more and more people are obtaining bachelor degrees, the ability to distinguish yourself from others has intensified. The research that I will conduct at graduate school will provide me with the tools necessary to become not only a leader among my peers but an innovator in enhancing game day experiences at college athletics. The classroom is not my main motivation though when it comes to graduate school. Instead it's the wide range of work opportunities within my field of sports management provided not only by the school but the city of Memphis itself. Whether it's a graduate assistant position at the school or job position at one of the numerous professional sports organizations in the state of Tennessee. Going to graduate school provides me with the opportunity to use the universities resources to find work opportunities. My career goal is to become a facility director for a large division one university. I want to manage large staffs of workers to help make a stadium run smoothly. I've built up some experience during my time at my undergrad with three internships as a turf management intern, event coordinator, and a basketball operations intern. I do feel that I am ready to start working in the field but, I want to go to the next level. Companies don’t want to hire someone who is just going to come in and do a job. They want someone who is going to challenge the norms and try to make a difference for the better of the company. That’s who I envision myself as and that's my motivation to pursue a graduate degree
