Write an essay where you tell us about what drives you in your pursuit of your graduate degree.

Last year, I applied to and was accepted into five different pharmacy school programs. Initially, I was over the moon, but that quickly faded as the reality sunk in that I was taking the easy road. I didn't want to become a pharmacist, because I knew I wanted to pursue something bigger. My heart had been set on becoming a medical examiner since I was in middle school. That was the moment I faced my fears of failure and applied to medical school. If I was going to live my dream and be the best that I could be, I needed to step out of my comfort zone and push myself. It was a long and stressful process, as all premeds can attest to, but the moment I got the acceptance letter, my heart stopped and my blood ran cold. It is actually happening! The fear of rejection stopped holding me back and I can actually begin pursuing my desires of becoming a medical examiner. I was obsessed with the show "Dr. G, Medical Examiner" in middle school. Since then, the career has tempted me, always in the back of my mind. Last year, at the Discovery Science museum, I met the local Cheif Medical Examiner and she offered to give me a tour of the facilities. She instantly reignited my drive to pursue the career path and instilled a new sense of confidence within me. With her words of wisdom and guidance, I will someday soon join her in this interesting and dynamic forensic field, living my dream and being the best I can.
