Growing up I had a passion and a focus - it was softball. For nearly ten years, my focus was playing softball. As I was preparing to play collegiate level softball, I tore my glenoid labrum. I postponed playing for a season to have surgery and go through physical therapy. Experiencing an injury myself sparked my interest in the body’s mechanisms of recovery and the biomechanics of human movement. My interest in sports now became channeled into physical therapy through educating and assisting individuals to improve their body mechanics to both prevent and manage injuries.

My experiences taught me to adjust to the situation and turn a potential negative into a positive by keeping an open mind and perspective while discovering new passions and interests. This has become part of my identity. I have learned not only to be adaptable to new situations but also how to take the initiative to deal positively with new issues or challenges instead of grieving. Come present, as I work with patients as an aide at a physical therapy clinic, I encourage positive thinking and adaptability so they can move forward from their injury. I have found my passion for fitness and health. My new goal is to educate individuals about how their bodies move and function so they can perform the daily activities that make their life satisfying. Present, as a physical therapy student, I plan to use my understanding of physical therapy to help others overcome injuries and impairments to return to the daily activities of their lives.
