One of the most meaningful relationships that I have ever had in my life was that my therapist when my life came to a crossroads and I hit rock bottom. I remember sitting in her office in tears finally having the emotional and mental breakthrough that I was long due for. I came to have multiple breakthroughs in her office and I have grown immensely ever since from the wisdom that she gave me.

The reason that I am back in school is that I want to be that person for someone else. I have the heart to help people as well as a past that can be used as a testimony and both of these things can be an asset to someone in need. I have spent so many years taking and I feel like it is now my time to start giving back.

I am pursuing a masters in counseling as part of my journey. With a masters in counseling, I will be able to become licensed as a counselor and be able to begin making a difference in another's life. If I can reach one person and help them the way that I was helped, I feel like this will be worth it.

I was heard when I was in a time of crisis and it was meaningful to me. Over the years, I have learned that people will not care how much I know until they know how much I care. I have the passion to help people but having the degree gives me the academic support to counsel them. For this reason, I am getting my degree to make a difference.
