Write an essay where you tell us about what drives you in your pursuit of your graduate degree.

After discussing what success means to me, gathering research, and learning what I am interested in or what I would want for myself, I found that I had an interest in becoming a healthcare administrator. I will be involved with almost every aspect of running the facility efficiently, effectively, and productively and ensuring the delivery of quality healthcare by doctors, staff members, technicians, and nurses to patients. By becoming a healthcare administrator, I will be making sure that we will be giving quality healthcare to patients. This role is an appropriate substitute for caring for the patient hands-on because I will still be making sure they are taken care of in the best way possible. For this job, many duties and skills are critical for success; but most importantly, success is defined as more than the capabilities of the situation. Success is about enjoying what you do and being happy with what you are doing, but at the same time, to be successful means to be able to get the job done efficiently and effectively. A Master of Public Health will prepare me to work with populations and communities to improve their health through awareness, education, policy, and research. The program will provide me with a more advanced understanding of the five core disciplines of public health (biostatistics, epidemiology, environmental health, health policy & administration, and social & behavioral sciences) and the potential for advanced knowledge in a given specialization. I have always had a passion for healthcare. I interned in a mental health facility in which I got to see another view of healthcare. Also, volunteering at a hospital, I was able to see first-hand how the healthcare system works. The current state of healthcare could be better. For Americans to enjoy optimal health as individuals and as a population, they must have the benefit of high-quality health care services that are effectively coordinated within a robust public health system.
