I am very passionate about Science, especially when looking at the bigger picture of natural landscape management and design. I am an enthusiastic student of Ethnobotany and Restoration Ecology. I am extremely grateful to be earning a Master’s of Science in Science Education at Montana State University. This innovative program will prepare me not only as an educator, but will help further my passions and understandings of Wildlife Management, Ethnobotany, and Restoration Ecology. My Master’s Program will provide me the knowledge and experience I need, allowing me to be qualified for my dream job as an science educator! I strongly believe the structure and expertise of the faculty at MSU will enable me to learn, grow, and prepare me to be a great teacher. Upon completing this program, I will pursue a job teaching about our natural world at the university, community college level, or at a charter high school that shares my values.

In April of 2016, 80% of my total body was severely burned! As a result of the severity of my burns, I was placed in a medically induced coma. After nearly 6 months barely being alive, a team of Doctors at Maricopa Burn Center determined that I had less than 1% chance of living! The medical staff urged my family to “pull the plug,” on my life support! Thankfully, one doctor pulled my brother aside and recommended not making that decision just yet, rather he urged that I first have the coma inducing medications be removed from my body. If I woke up it would be a miracle… A few days later I woke up! Unfortunately during my coma I received around 40 surgeries, including the amputation of both of my legs. For the next year I remained in a hospital bed, unable to fully move my body because of the scaring caused by the burns had wrapped completely around my body. However because of my accident I was unfortunately unable to work. It has now been 3 years since my Burn accident and I am finally well enough to return to school!
