My academic dreams were twenty years in the making as I placed my education goals aside while pursuing a family. Upon enduring a painful and unexpected divorce I enrolled at Azusa Pacific University and earned my B.A. with a 4.0 GPA! I never lost sight of these academic goals yet I never felt supported. After gaining the confidence I needed from my undergraduate success it propelled me toward a higher calling. I am now a graduate student at Azusa Pacific University pursuing a Master's degree in Educational Counseling and will attain a Pupil Personnel Services Credential upon completion in two years.

I am passionate about equipping this generation with encouragement, resources and tools necessary for their success in school and beyond. School counselors have an incredible role as an advocate and liaison for the youth, helping their voice be heard. It is my hope to become an effective, dynamic and agile school counselor who takes every bit of knowledge I've learned in school and in life to serve my students with heartfelt energy and bring out the best in them.

Children today are faced with discouragement, distractions and are often overwhelmed by the pressures of life. Children need adults who see them, hear them and care enough to lovingly challenge them while graciously supporting them. It is my dream to be a beacon of light and hope at my future school sight. I want to be the counselor that builds children up and prods them towards their full potential.

As a parent I know how taxing the job of parenting is so it is my goal to uplift and support parents as well. I am inspired by liked minded educators and I am energized by collaborating on behalf of students and their families. Pursuing a degree as a working adult brings a myriad of challenges and can be taxing on a family financially. If awarded with this scholarship I would use the funds toward tuition, textbooks or school supplies in effort to take some weight off my family. Thank you!
