Upon graduation from the MSM program at SMU, I plan on entering the oil and gas industry. I have a desire to become a multidimensional contributor by combining my technical undergraduate degree in Petroleum Engineering with the MSM program. During my last internship, it became apparent that if I could understand and communicate the business drivers to the technical team and do the same for the finance and accounting team, we could have been more effective. I believe that combining these two degrees will enable me to communicate and facilitate different personnel and departments with competing objectives to make the team more successful. Ultimately, having these tools to succeed will allow me to become a better leader, employee, and team-oriented person.

My post-graduate degree goals include working for a major oil and gas company in a commercial/business development role, energy consulting, or energy trading. The significant companies of interest to me include Chevron, Exxon Mobil, Comstock Resources, Energy Transfer Corporation, Pioneer Natural Resources, and Matador Resources. These are a few of the established companies that would help expand my knowledge and broaden my experience in my desired field. I have worked as a Reservoir Engineer and Field Engineer in different oil and gas companies across the country during various internships throughout college. I plan to use my technical experience along with my business graduate degree to transition into a commercial role in the industry. This will give me the unique opportunity to relate to personnel in each division to ensure the success of the team. I anticipate upon graduation from this program that I will enter a business development role where I can obtain a strong understanding of business operations inside the company. From here I plan to transition into a commercial technical role to better equip the team in a business/engineering setting. My long term goal would be to return and complete the MBA
