Write an essay where you tell us about what drives you in your pursuit of your graduate degree.

I am a 32-year-old mom of 2 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I was married in my Junior year of college, had my 1st child, a baby girl, December of my senior year, and got to take graduation pictures with my bundle of joy in May! Following graduation, I pursued my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction through night classes while still being a new wife, new mom, and new teacher. I did not let any life circumstances stop me from furthering my degree. I am now into my 10th year of teaching with a 10-year-old and a 5-year-old. My children have watched me over the last 3 years struggle with trying to get my National Board Certificate of Teaching. I have not yet accomplished that goal, but I am still striving to achieve it. Once I have finished this goal, my hope is to pursue my Specialist degree as well as my PH.D. I want my children to see me create goals for my self, work hard to achieve them, and reach them victoriously. I want them to know that you can ALWAYS better yourself with dedication, hard work, and determination. I NEVER want to be complacent in my career. Teaching is always evolving, and I feel that teachers should always want to evolve too. To continue to be a high-quality teacher, one must stay up to date with the current objectives, curriculum, teaching strategies, testing, data, etc. I feel that being as diverse as possible will allow me to ALWAYS have a way to provide for my family. There should ALWAYS be a job opening that I could apply for. I want to not only be the best wife, mom, teacher, worship leader, and teacher - I WANT TO BE THE BEST ME I CAN BE!! Furthering my education is a great way to achieve THIS goal that I have set for myself. Allowing my childrent to see me set goals, work hard, and yes, even struggle, will benefit them when it is their turn to pursue their hopes and dreams!
