Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Test preparation is always needed no matter if it's a 5 question quiz or the SAT's. My test preparation includes spacing out the information over the course of a long period of time and then reviewing a week or two before the upcoming test. Two of my most useful test preparation methods included spacing concepts out over time and repetition. I remember preparing over the span of 5 months just to prepare for the SAT's. This meant day and night, test practice after after passage after math equation in preparation of studying. When the SAT's came close by, I would study formulas, go back and review my weaker points and worked on them until they became a strength. I thrive on the basis that practice makes permanent and therefore, this is why I believe these methods, in particular, worked exceptionally well.

Another thing I did was ask questions. I would always reach out to my teachers and count on them to help me through to find some extra review problems that we could do. Whenever it was a day before a test, and they were offering a review session, I would always go out of my way and clear my schedule in order to attend it. This worked out for me well, because I was able to have time with my teachers and they could target the topics in which I particularly struggled on, and helped me reinforce and strengthen my academic weaknesses.

This last preparation is not academically related, but I always make sure to get a good night's sleep, eat breakfast, and either eat a peppermint or chew on gum (if I'm permitted). It's always been a tradition of mine to do all of the following. This is so that my awareness and stress is at optimum levels. There is also research that shows that peppermint can be used to stimulate the brain and improve memory and increase alertness. I believe that all of these methods are effective practices for my test preparation, and I can wholeheartedly say that these practices have helped me be predominantly successfully when taking tests.
