Write an essay where you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to become a teacher.
First semester of freshman year I was lucky enough to pass my classes with all A’s so I didn’t have any exams to take. Yet, all my friends were cramming for their own personal finals. I’ve always studied very well so, I decided to help some of my friends with their upcoming exams. I really wanted them to succeed so I used all the studying tricks I could think of. One of my friends is a visual learner, so we did flash cards and I had him draw some pictures to associate with the vocabulary words he had to remember. Another friend I helped is an auditory learner so we created a simple mnemonic system for her to remember. Another friend of mine is an kinesthetic learner so we created flip diagrams as a study tool for his exam. Each one of them did extremely well, I was so proud of all of my friends and super proud of myself. But, I still had an issue... All of my friends were succeeding in their course of study yet I still hadn’t found anything that had genuinely interested me. That’s when it hit me! If I find joy in teaching others why not pursue teaching as a career? Currently, I’m in my second year of college and working hard towards an Elementary Education Major!
