Write an essay where you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to become a teacher.

I never believed that I was anything special. I never had any real talents. I could play the clarinet, but I would never play at Carnegie Hall. I could cook but I would never be a professional chef. I could crochet a blanket, but I would never be able to sell my goods. I was average and that was okay with me. It wasn’t until I went to Ukraine to teach English for two weeks at a summer camp. This came mostly from a selfish desire to travel but I got so much more then I could have ever expected. I found out that I was not only good at teaching, but it came naturally. I knew then that I wanted to be a teacher to help students learn and grow. So, I applied to be a teacher to use my gift to help students become the best version of themselves by learning and growing.
