Write an essay where you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to become a teacher.

There are many things that inspired me to pursue a teaching degree, but the main thing that really motivated me to go into teaching was when I first taught a drawing class at an elementary school. Every year, the elementary school I went to when I was younger holds an "International Tour Day", where volunteers come in and teach four sets of one hour classes about a country. Since I am really into anime and Japanese culture, I decided to sign up to present a drawing class based around the Japanese manga/anime art style. Now, normally I am pretty nervous and uncomfortable talking to people, but that day I discovered that whenever I would stand up at the front of a classroom, with all the student's eyes on me, my excitement and passion for teaching the things I know quickly took over, pushing away any anxiety I had. After that, I held a few drawing classes at my house, and returned to teach at International Tour Day every year until I left for college. I feel like teaching is such a fulfilling career and even though I know it does not pay much and there will definitely be many struggles along the way, it is what I want to do with my life.
