Write an essay where you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to become a teacher.
I began my pursuit for a teaching degree, when my neighbor who teaches biology for a local Title 1 High School, she told me that about half of her students could not read. I was totally shocked that anyone in High School could not read, with all of the push with out government's no child left behind program. My passion is education and working with children. I believe that every child can learn; as an educator it is my job to build a relationship with each child. Once I know a child it becomes obvious what their learning style is. I can build my lesson plans accordingly, thus each child is learning what the class is learning, creating a whole class of engaged learners. As a citizen of the USA and a mom, it is my job to actively make a difference in my community by making sure our children know how to read. Not only learn to read; but love to read and know that books open up so many different paths for them to try on their journey through life. I want to be that teacher that inspires my students to challenge themselves to be the best that they can be! To have confidence in themselves; that through reading and their other studies in school, and dedication. They can be whatever they dream, and that it can be achieved. This is why I am pursueing a teaching degree.
