Write an essay where you tell us about the moment you realized you wanted to become a teacher.
One particular day though, she took off her teacher mask and became a parent for a child. She drove a student home who didn’t have a ride. That was the moment I realized I want to become a teacher. This teacher showed me that teaching is tending to the needs of each individual student but, it can also mean being a parental figure to some as well and I want to do that. I want to help educate our future generation while also providing them with a friend they can come back to at any point in their life. While in college, I have been taught the importance of building positive relationships with students and this teacher that I had in the eighth grade did exactly that. She would come in early and go home late just to make sure that each student was accounted for and succeeding.
Not only did this teacher take a student home one day, but she would come to our events outside of school. She would attend soccer games, track meets, dance recitals, and plays. She would ask for our schedules when we received them and she would do everything in her power to attend. Like I said, she didn’t work an 8 am - 4pm job. She took time out of her personal schedule to come and build those relationships with us. She was one of the best teachers I ever had in school and she is the main reason I want to teach. She reached out to each student, included them, and helped them to reach success. That is the kind of teacher I want to be one day.
