Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.

A career in the medical field is one of the rewarding professions anybody can have, knowing you can help someone that is in need. I have chosen to do just that, by studying nursing I choose to follow my dreams of becoming a successful nurse and aid people that are in pain. The nursing field called to me because of its immediate reach that health professionals have on the safety of people, and the major impact they have on a person's health. It only takes one person to change a life and that is what I want to do, I want to change at least one person's life. In the nursing field, those individuals change at least one person's life every day, and in their entire career they can influence up to hundreds of lives. Helping someone and potentially impacting their lives forever is the most rewarding thing any job could have. Nurse-midwives impact the life of newborns, traveling nurses help people all over the globe, critical care nurses save patient's lives daily, and forensic nurses aid in solving different types of crimes. Each one of these nursing positions impacts somebody's life every day, as well as nurses in any other position. Along with wanting to impact people's lives the nurses in my life were also a large influence on my future career. Watching them have a successful professional life sparked my idea of wanting to do the same, my cousin, aunt, and grandmother all helped relieve the pain some people experienced and I want to do the same. To be able to save someone's life and relieve their pain, I am going to need a great education first, and that is why this scholarship would be very beneficial in my educational and professional journey.
