Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.
Going to college is the next big step in my life, and moving on to become an ER Nurse, Registered Nurse or maybe even a Forensic Nurse. I’ve been in this nursing class ever since my sophomore year of high school. It has been the best decision I have ever made. Being in this Medicaid Nurse Aide (MNA) course has given me the experience from the real world I need for nursing. Finishing my MNA course and becoming a CNA is such a big accomplishment for me because it is the first big step that I’ve taken and completed to becoming what I would love to do for my life. Becoming a CNA isn’t very hard to do but the work you do once your a CNA is, working as a CNA is important and hard work I have previous experience from clinicals at Masonic Home. It felt like I had been at work all day I was so tired but I knew I had helped people throughout the day who aren’t able to help themselves, someone who needs help daily, maybe even someone with an incurable disease.
An incurable disease could be Alzheimer's disease, or maybe even dementia. Some people with dementia and Alzheimer's can be so difficult to work with sometimes but they can be some of the sweetest people. My great grandfather has dementia and he can be so stubborn sometimes like not taking his medicine, having sun downers, and accusing people of something they didn’t do and so forth. But he is one of the sweetest men I have ever met and kind, it kind of in a way makes up for him being so stubborn sometimes. That’s why becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant is such a big accomplishment, with my certification I will be able to take care of people like my great grandfather all day long, and honestly some of them in the Masonic Home do remind me of him.
