Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.
I wasn't always sure what I wanted to do with my life. My family before me had all been in the medical field in some way and I knew I wanted to do something exciting that changed every day, but I had never considered nursing until April of 2016, when I was hospitalized for a poorly functioning liver. Turns out, the Tylenol I had been taking for my mono, had built up to toxic levels in my body. It was one of the worst times of my life, but it was the nurses who made it all better. They always did everything they could to make me comfortable, and I have never admired a group of people so much. Upon discharge, I had even received a letter from my group of nurses with well wishes and signatures. It was then I decided I wanted to be a nurse. My fascination for nursing had grown and I had learned so much from just 5 days in the hospital. I felt so much respect towards those nurses and I wanted to give back to the world. My goal now is to become an emergency room nurse so I am able to be there for people at their worst. I want to save lives and make a difference in the world and I have never had more motivation to do so.
