Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.
What inspired me to be a nurse was the extraordinary nurses I met in the PICU of Children's Hospital Colorado when my very close family friend was admitted. Ryann was hit by a drunk driver my junior year of high school and was in the hospital for a month fighting for her life. I went and visited her everyday and grew to know the staff that cared for her, they truly inspired me in a time when I did not know what to do with my future. I saw there true kindness that they displayed to their patients and the patients families, showing me that it is not just about the physical healing brought by medicine it is also the emotional healing provided to the patients and their families. I look up to them because they helped me through my grief and I watched as Ryann healed. I see the importance of good nurses who are passionate and truly caring down to their core because they can have the most life inspiring ripple effects to the patients and their families. In my nursing career I hope to bring my patients and their families that same sense of comfort through not only my medical training but also through kindness and getting to know them.
