Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.

After countless doctor visits, detrimental tests run, and compassionate nurses at my aid consistently, I continued to remind myself that it was all part of the plan for my life. I knew I was going to overcome the illnesses, and I knew it was the defining moment in my life that made me want to pursue a nursing career.
In 2012, the middle of my high school sophomore year, my whole world flipped upside down. I was diagnosed with two, debilitating auto-immune diseases that steered my life into a complete opposite direction of where I was headed. . During that period, my hope encouraged me to continue combating the illnesses, and it made me eager to begin wanting to make a difference in people’s lives who also were struggling with his or her health.
If five years ago anyone would have told me I would be attending the Robert E. Smith School of Nursing at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi, I would have never believed them. My goal while in nursing school has been to soak up every ounce of knowledge coming my way, so I can fulfil this dream of becoming the best nurse I can possibly be. In life, many curve balls are thrown, but it is all about how we as people view, handle, and continue fighting through the difficult situations. The illnesses gave me a different perspective on life itself and helped me see the positive in every circumstance. They allowed me to see life through new eyes, to gain experience and knowledge, and to gain much more than what I thought I lost. When I gained a new direction for my life, I also gained a huge heart for caring for others, and I cannot wait to begin making a difference in people’s lives just as those who made a lasting impact on mine.
