Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.

I can remember being a little girl and telling my mom that I wanted to be a nurse because I wanted a Corvette. As I got older I didn't make the best choices for myself. I was hanging around not so good kids and skipping school. I ended up pregnant with my son when I was 16. He was a blessing it made me realize that I needed to make better decisions for him. While I was pregnant I was home schooled and ended up graduating a year early, but I had forgot about my dream to be a nurse. All I was concerned with was raising my son. I had to work to pay for things that he needed so school got put on the back burner. When he was three I decided I needed an education because these retail jobs weren't what I wanted. I went to school to become a medical assistant because it was quick. I graduated and was offered a job, but the pay was way less than I was making in retail. I turned it down thinking about the today not the future. I had bills to pay and a son to raise, I couldn't afford the pay cut. So, again I went back to retail and hating every minute of it. Fast forward about five years, again I decided to go back to school. I was afraid to go to nursing school, I didn't think I could do it, so I decided to go for accounting. I wasn't happy with that so I kept changing my major. Again I accomplished nothing. Here we are 15 years later I am FINALLY pursuing my dream to become a nurse. I couldn't be happier with my decision to follow my dream of helping people in need.
