Write an essay where you tell us about what inspired you to pursue a nursing degree.

One thing that I have always been sure of is knowing that I want to help people. I always feared I would be one of those people who never figured out what they wanted to do with their lives. Thankfully, I have had influences in my life that helped me along the way to not only discover what I want to do, but also a little bit of who I am as a person. I had never really given any thought to the medical field at all, until about the end of sophomore, beginning of junior year. I always had the understanding that anything in the medical field was going to be extremely hard and involve may years of schooling. Eventually I had talked to some people in my life that had chosen to become nurses and I had began to research it. I came to find that the more I found out about the nursing field the more that I wanted to pursue it. Helping people has became so much more to me ever since I figured out this is what I want to do. I always heard people saying that the feeling you get when you help someone is amazing, but I never really thought much of it. This is something I have come to know, and truly believe. The feeling you get when you give back is a really wholesome feeling. You begin to feel complete and like you have a purpose, and being a nurse can give me this feeling all the time. Nursing is not an easy field but life isn't easy, I feel like challenges benefit people and help them grow as a person. I am so excited to start my future and learn everything I can, this is a part of my life that never felt like it would come and now its here. I don't really have a life changing event that has happened to me to explain why I chose nursing, but I do know that I have a passion for it and I will always do my best and put my full effort in. Being awarded this scholarship would be such an amazing opportunity. Not only would this money impact me but also all the all the lives that I would get to help when I become a nurse. This scholarship would mean my dream is closer to coming true.
