Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
During high school, I would stress about any upcoming major tests that I had. Up until freshman year, I did not have to worry about studying, but when I started taking dual credit classes, I knew that would soon change. I tried many different test preparation methods until I found the one that was perfect for me. I found an empty spiral notebook (I usually had one for each class). Before I began studying, I would find a quiet and comfortable place where there would be no distractions. I would lay out any notes or handouts that I had been given as a review. In my spiral notebook, I would rewrite everything from those handouts using different colors. Each color represented a different topic. After creating my own personal review pages, I would then find flashcards. Using the same thematic color system as the review pages, I would create flashcards over the same topics. After creating these notecards, I would begin looking over all of my study materials. By this time, I had classroom handouts, color-coded review sheets and flashcards. Now that I had multiple materials to look over, I would constantly read the information over and over. After I felt confident about the information I had just read, I would try and repeat all of the information by memory. Using this thematic color coding system gave me an easier way to memorize and remember all of this useful information for my upcoming test. I highly suggest any student who has trouble studying to use my methods and techniques. They helped me in many ways and hopefully, they will be able to help others as well.
