Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

My first preparation is usually to go over old material to identify where I'm weakest and need to spend the most time studying. I then work on practice problems and questions. This allows me to really learn and ingrain any information or processes I need to know for the test. That way, when its time to sit down and take it, I'm not panicking to recall information. Sometimes, I will recopy my notes, or make 'cheat sheets', so that I can sort through main ideas and what I really need to know. Most importantly, I tend to study right before I go to sleep. That way, the information gets processed deeper into my brain while I sleep, and I have faster recall time on the test.
