Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

When I came into high school, I was very prideful and confident in my intelligence. I thought that was all I needed to get through the next four years because I had gotten by no problem in middle school that way. It was an unexpected wake-up call that really succeeding in high school required hard work and dedication. It took me a while to get used to that and find motivation somewhere inside myself to overcome the arrogance I had previously. Now I use many different study techniques based on the subject. For instance, in math class, I like to go through all of my homework from the unit that I am being tested on and redo all the homework without looking at my notes unless I really, really can't figure it out. This helps me practice by sharpening my math skills like it were a sport because, in math, the material isn't a problem for me as much as the efficiency with which I use the time. However in more trivia based classes, like history or english, I like to use resources such as Quizlet or Kahoot, or Sparknotes for any books that I need to freshen my memory on. In history classes I will also skim through chapters of the textbook which I have already read, and make sure I pick everything up the night before a test. Now at the end of my high school career, I go into almost any test feeling confident that I am prepared.
