Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Studying is an essential when it comes to academic success, even the smartest students must study to do their best. As a high school senior, I have learned a lot about myself and my capabilities. I have discovered what I need personally to achieve my goals and my skills I have acquired have helped me reach my goal in attaining a 4.0 GPA. One of the most important skills, not only for academic success, is organization. I keep a planner in which I record every due date and every obligation that I must ensure I am prepared and reliable. This is especially important when it comes to big test days. Another thing I add in my planner is a one-week notice to prepare me for tests and remind me to study. At this time, I typically review the material and schedule and appointment with my teachers to clear up any confusion or misunderstandings I may have about the content. This ensures that when I am studying, I am not simply memorizing but learning and understanding. In the following days before the test, I review any homework or practice material that has been given to me. One great resource I have discovered is Quizlet. It is a website that allows me to make tests, flashcards, and other study material. The flash cards are the most useful for me. I will take time to put in all of the information expected to be on my test into “flashcard form.” I then go through and review every single one as a refresher. One great aspect of Quizlet is that it allows you to mark certain flashcards to go back and study ones you found difficult and need work on. Throughout the week, I go through my flashcards several times to ensure I am an expert on the material. The night before, I make several practice quizzes for myself and review the flashcards a couple more times. Finally, on test day, I allow myself about an hour out of my day before the test specifically designated to study. I review notes, homework, and my flashcards until I am confident about the test. This strategy is one that I have.
