Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
I first begin preparing for a test the day the material is first presented to me. After each class, I will go back in my notes and see which points were mentioned more than once. Teachers will often reiterate specific points to show importance. I also will highlight any words that were defined during the lecture and create flashcards for each section. By doing this after each class I am able to study a little bit at a time while we are still learning the new sections. This prevents having to cram right before an exam and avoiding the problem of not fully understanding a topic and trying to relearn it the night before. I also will take any practice tests if that resource is available and go to any review sessions with the professor or the teacher’s assistant. These sessions are often tailored around the material covered on the exam and assure me that I am as prepared as I can be.
