Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
I study mainly on my bed in my bedroom with my legs covered by a fluffy blanket. Living in Massachusetts, the weather is usually cold during the school year, and it has been exceptionally rainy and dark the last few months. The main reason I use a fluffy blanket is because my cat, Mittens, sleeps next to me when I’m studying. Petting him puts me in a calm and relaxed mood. I take my schooling seriously, and my intention is to always be prepared so that I can always perform well on my tests.
Once I’m comfortable leaning against my big pillows at my headboard with my computer on my lap and my phone in my hand, I begin to study. All my studying is accomplished online and the only paper document that I use is my class text book, which is on the floor next to my bed for easy access.
My test preparation includes review of the following:
Notes I typed on my laptop during class
Teacher’s notes and PowerPoint presentations
Youtube tutorial videos
Online study guides found via internet searches
Online practice review questions found via internet searches, and on Khan Academy and Albert.io
About three quarters of my studying time is spent reviewing the course material, and one quarter is spent completing practice test questions and practice exams. However, sprinkled throughout my few hours of studying, I FaceTime and text my classmates if I don’t understand something. I also take study breaks about every hour when I go downstairs to the kitchen and get a something to eat and talk with whoever happens to be there.
I usually go to bed at about 10:30 PM and wake up at 6:00 AM to perform a final overview to refresh my memory and start my day.
