Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.
Preparing the mind involves paying attention in class, taking notes, and then rewriting those notes. Research has shown that we remember more of what we write. Many students will skip this step because it takes more effort, but I believe it is worth the extra time and energy. Technology is great, but there is nothing as good as flipping a note card to drill something into my head.
Preparing the body involves getting proper sleep and nutrition. Some students run their bodies down with little sleep and lots of coffee. I believe we function better with a good breakfast and plenty of rest.
I'm old fashioned when it comes to test prep. I believe in hand written notes and note cards. That is my go to for all major tests. Research has proven that we remember what we write down, so I always rewrite my notes after class and then create note cards to study by. An even better idea is to share a study date with a friend to help each other.
