Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

School work, homework and testing hasn't always been easy for me.  From preschool to mid seventh grade, I had an IEP (Individualized Education Program).  Having this IEP afforded me the help of teachers and speech therapists to assist me with my learning.  After my seventh grade year, I was on my own and that is when I had to start coming up with ways to stay focused, complete my school work to the best of my abilities and prepare for testing.
One thing that helped me a lot in regards to studying for exams is Quizlet.  Several of my teachers use Quizlet in the classroom to help the students study for exams.  I take it one step further and create my own Quizlets at home to help me study. With Quizlet, I create my own practice tests through the site and take the test that I've created several times. This method really seems to help me and I've been very successful with test prep and the actual exam.
Another method that helped me a lot in regards to studying for exams is to have soft music playing in the background. I don’t listen to heavy or loud music while I study due to the fact that I might get distracted easily and jam out to the music. Soft music is the best remedy of relaxation and focus for completing important tasks, like studying for tests. I would suggest listening to music with no lyrics, such as soft classical music.
The last method that helped me a lot in regards to studying is the website called Khan Academy. I feel that this website is really helpful for reviewing materials from different units of math, science, social studies, and language arts. Khan Academy allows students to watch videos of other people across the nation do example problems and also allows students to take quizzes and tests. I mostly use this website to help me study for important exams that I would need to take, like AP Exams and IB Exams.
