Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Everyone has their own methods to studying that helps them the best. For me, I utilize the “learn” setting on quizlet. This setting allows you to look at the terms added into the set until you memorize them and their definitions. This works best for me because I learn most efficiently when I am exposed to a concept many times over a period of time. By repeatedly going over certain concepts on quizlet, my mind is able to process and retain this information well. In addition, since I am a visual learner, it helps to see things such as diagrams and pictures. When it comes to scientific processes, such as photosynthesis, I tend to study diagrams and recite them out loud so that I can remember it like a story. The only way I understand something completely is by drilling the ideas into my brain to the point where it is second nature.

For example, for the past few weeks, I have been preparing for the AP BC Calculus Exam. To prepare for this, I put the various theorems, formulas, and concepts into a quizlet. Then, I went through the learn setting everyday, until I knew them well enough to recite them on command. Moreover, I also looked up previous year tests to study the types of questions given on these tests. By looking and scanning through the steps taken to solve each problem, I was able to remember the process taken to complete that certain problem. This then became applicable to other problems that dealt with the same topic. It was like practicing throwing a baseball in a sense where it almost becomes like muscle memory.
