Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

Test preparation for me really depends on the class and type of test. If I know it will be only multiple choice then most likely that will mean that I will only need to rely on recognition of the right answer. If I know that there will be fill in the blank or written response I know I'll have to overstudy. Overstudying is actually really good for studying. It just means that you learn the information very well. When studying for a vocabulary quiz I like to write the words and their synonyms many times but also try to create little tricks and associations that put them into long term memory. When it comes to information you need to truly understand and elaborate on, I will actively read the textbook or notes. I like to try to explain the information to anyone who will listen and make diagrams that connect the information in a way that makes sense to me. Ideally, there will be enough time to take the pieces of information I want to make sure I remember and try to fit it into one page. This really helps me have a sort of personalized study guide that I can often remember how I wrote it down while I'm taking the test.
