Tell us a little bit about yourself and your plans for college.

An average person says about 150 million words in their lifetime. From this library of vocabulary, four words were all it took to leave a lasting impression on an obnoxious, juvenile attention seeker: me. Shockingly, I was swayed by a question as meager as, “What happened to you?”
Glancing back on my past, I recollect my first year of highschool as if it were yesterday. I had just turned fourteen years old, ignorant and deafening. My daily routine comprised of: bullying, insolence in the face of authority (in pursuit of popularity), and not attending classes. If anything, I was a young woman trying to live life to the fullest. At the time, I could never acknowledge why I found satisfaction in what I was involved in. However, I knew I was in need of change. Miraculously, after facing demerits and the prospect of a crumbling homelife, I stumbled upon a recruiting stand for a step club searching to add classy ladies to their rosters as their season came to a close. The captain approached me and asked, “Would you consider joining?” Speaking to myself, I quarreled, “Me? Why me? I don’t know how to dance? I am not classy. I am not respectful. I am not anything like the girls I see on that team.”
I spent two days thinking about the opportunity in my hands, unaware of its significance in distancing myself from my past. I decided to take a leap of faith and try out for the team. I have to say, I was petrified of how it would transpire due to my unethical behavior, nonetheless, I was intent on success. To my shock, I prevailed. The next couple of months presented connectivity that I had never seen before. I was embraced by the sister and brotherhoods, discipline, and the strong passion for step. Trusting the perspicacity of my coach, invested in me were a plethora of beneficial skills including, maintenance of grades, and the adoption of a mindset of self-development.
