Write an essay where you tell us what test preparation practices work best for you and why.

As soon as the test day is announced jitters tingle down my spine as my mind starts racing to think of all the work that must be put into the preparation of that day. I remind myself to stop, breathe, and focus as I put myself in test mode. The days leading up to the test can be overwhelming and stressful, but if I go in prepared my mind will be eased which takes a huge burden off my shoulders. So how do I prepare? First of all, I need to have a plan. Planners are a great way to keep organized so I know exactly what I need to accomplish each day. I figure out my schedule to make sure I will have plenty of time to study and set timers so I know when to give myself a break. I go to bed early and get plenty of rest each night, avoiding electronics so I can allow my brain to shut off and be ready to go again in the morning. Secondly, I join a study group. Studying with others allows me to compare notes, quiz each others knowledge, and get a deeper understanding of the topics from class. If I’m having a hard time grasping a concept another student may be able to explain it in a way that makes sense to me. Study groups can also make studying more fun by coming up with games to help me learn the information needed. If I’m still struggling with a specific topic a tutor can also be an enormous help. If tutoring is available to me I always take advantage of the extra help. Finally, when test day arrives I wake up early and make sure I have my bag packed with everything I will need for the test. I eat a healthy breakfast and take a little bit of time to relax. When it's time to take the test I take a deep breath to stay calm and encourage myself with motivating sayings. Then I take the test.
